Well, today marked six months since Cindy has been gone, and one month since I relaunched this website. I have to tell you that I was more than a little bit concerned about today. I have always been a sentimental person and “milestone” dates and anniversaries always evoke emotion – good or bad – in me. Today is certainly no different. If I’m completely honest, I would have to say that I entered today full of dread, but it didn’t turn out to be a bad day after all.
When I got to work, I met a brand new co-worker. Let’s call her “D” since I don’t have permission to use her name. She’s in the same department that I am, but in a different group. I had to set up her computer so she could work. What a truly delightful young lady she is. She laughed at my jokes and you know how much I love it when people do that. I even had the privilege of giving “D” the grand tour of our building.
About mid-morning, I took a birthday present over to another co-worker who has always been super great to me, but especially so since Cindy passed. It was great to see her smile and she gives the best hugs.
Later in the day, “D” asked me what restaurants were close by because she hadn’t brought her lunch. I wasn’t planning on eating lunch today, but I started listing nearby eateries. When I got to Max’s Sports Bar, she asked what they have so I mentioned that they have awesome lunch specials, including a killer Reuben sandwich. She said that sounded good and I agree. I LOVE a good Reuben. So, with that, “D” and I headed for my car. I had talked myself into going out for lunch. We had a wonderful time of conversation and laughter. It was great!
After work, I took my customary long drive home, still on a high from the fun I had with my new friend.
When I got home, I grabbed a bite to eat, snuggled with my kitty cat, Buddy, and talked with Kevin for a while. He clued me in on his current college studies. That young man is very smart. He’s going to be a terrific IT professional and a top-quality man. Of course, I’m not entirely unbiased.
After going upstairs I called another new friend. Let’s call her “T” for the same privacy reasons noted above. “T” is a sweet lady who lives in Tennessee and she’s my Valentine for this year. We must have talked and laughed for over an hour. It was wonderful. What a total sweetheart. I sincerely hope she likes the Valentine’s Day flowers and gifts I sent her. I hope we get to talk again soon. I can already tell that we’re going to be terrific friends.
On a side note, I have decided to write a “daily diary” on this site as opposed to writing “articles.” This might help me to post more regularly. Hopefully, it won’t bore you too much and it will give me the therapeutic outlet that I need. Let me know what you think.
Well, friends, it’s getting late and 3:15 am comes awfully early. It’s time for this ol’ boy to hit the hay. I’ll “talk” to y’all later.
